Dr. María Ángeles (Tati) Fernández-Ibáñez
was born in Madrid. In 2006, she received her PhD (Summa Cum Laude) at Autonoma University of Madrid (UAM) in Spain, under the supervision of Prof. José L. García Ruano and Prof. M. Carmen Maestro. During this period, she carried out a predoctoral stay in Boston College, USA, with Prof. Scott J. Miller.
Subsequently, she joined as a postdoctoral researcher the groups of Prof. Ben. L. Feringa (2006-2009) at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands; and the Medicinal Chemistry Institute at CSIC in Madrid (2009/2010). In 2010, she joined the group of Prof. Juan Carlos Carretero at the UAM as a Research Associate; where later she was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry (UAM) in 2012. In 2015, she moved to the University of Amsterdam (UvA) as Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry (tenure-track) and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017.
Her research is focused on the development of new catalytic systems for efficient and sustainable processes in organic chemistry. The innovated research on S,O-ligands/Palladium-catalyzed C-H functionalization has lead to new catalytic systems allowing the use challenging substrates and, has been published in journals as Angewadnte Chemie, JACS, Chemical Science, Journal of Organic Chemistry and others.
